Las Vegas to Orlando on 11 Oct 2012

Plane

This was one of the new 737-800 ETOPS aircraft. It is my understanding that these are being groomed for overwater flights(Hawaii, please and, Mahalo!).

They arev truely gorgeous and state of the art. The new "sky interior" creates a spaciousness and size that in my opinion creates the illusion of a larger wide-body aircraft. LOVE IT, As a side note there are other US airlines adding these two....which a plus for everyone.

Flight attendant on the mike was better than most professional comics. Worth the cover charge to listen to her performance!

Seats

Seats were in my view very comfortable, and legroom quite good. The overall feeling I got on this 737-800 is that of being on a much more spacious aircraft, with the sculpted led lit cielings, and the reworked overhead bins. ONE ITEM TO NOTE: These bins are much higher then usual and while spacious, I noticed many people surprised by this and needing assistance. It believe it had an effect on boarding time.

Entertainment

Free Live TV was a plus, although the Wi-Fi was sloooooooow (perhaps due to the bandwidth drawn for all the users of the free Live TV!?)

Chicago to Oakland on 19 Nov 2013

Wi-Fi

For $8, the Wi-Fi crawled... definitely not at par with speeds on Delta and other airlines with GoGo. Plus, I was not able to use my GoGo account -- so I had to pay for the session.

New York to Chicago on 30 Nov 2012

Crew

I have never laughed so much before noon. Our crew could have hopped off the plane for a Second City audition. Their improv savvy is unparalleled amongst most flight crew. The best was that before the door closed, one of the flight crew members used the PA system to ask for passenger "Christian Grey." As a former book publicist, even a seedy literary reference like a nod to "50 Shades of Grey" makes me grin. As we disembarked the plane, they thanked us for napping the entire flight.

Crew

The FA attendant was unfortunately the same one I had on the previous flight. He looked exactly like Dog the Bounty Hunter. His shirt was rumpled, tight and mostly unbuttoned. SInce I was not permitted to get food at MDW, I was beginning to feel faint. I am severely gluten intolerant. It told the FA. He threw peanuts at me (he never looked anyone in the eye, guess he thought that was cute or funny) I told him the peanuts were coated with wheat. He told me I did not know what I was talking about and left. He never bothered to see if I was OK or if he could do something. By now, it had been 12 hours since I had been able to eat because of the mess with the planes.
