Private lounge

Virgin's Sydney lounge is under renovation, but it's still a nice place to while away some time. The downstairs section is more comfy but there's usually more space upstairs.

Private lounge

If you use the Malaysia Lounge (1 level below the departure area), be sure and order something from the cook to order menu - the noodles are my favorite!

Velocity members – leave the terminal, and enter through the Lounge Premium Entry. No queues, private screening. Perfect.

Gate & boarding

Brand new gate area, with charging stations next to the queueing area. Very convenient. The priority lane is also very well signposted. Very impressive.

Check-in

Terminal 2 was it's usual overcrowded chaos. Thankfully I avoided it with Virgin's Premium Entry. Best. Idea. Ever.

Check-in

It is another bad experience with Thai. I could not see any good point why I did internet-checkin if I had to wait 45 minutes in line. Bad management.

Security

Australia has mandatory body scanners. If you're selected there's no opt out or you get banned from flying internationally from Australia for 24 hrs. The good thing: If you have an Express Departure card, it's very unlikely to get into the security line with the scanner in Sydney.
